Humza Malik enjoyed a winning debut for England at the GB Three Nations event at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell at the weekend.
The Repton Boxing Club youngster was picked following his Junior ABA title success in Wigan earlier in the year and was up against three-time Welsh champion Gavin Alexander on Sunday.
And the Streatham teenager, who attends Graveney School in Tooting, proved too strong for his opponent in their under-46kg contest as the referee stopped the fight in the second round, with the Welsh youngster in no fit state to carry on.
That success made Malik one of 21 gold medalists for England at the event and he has now been selected to compete in the European Championships which will be held in Romania in July.
England lead coach John Stubbs said: "“I’m really happy with the whole team of boxers and everyone behaved impeccably and performed fantastically."
Proud dad Bobby Malik added: "It is brilliant achievement for Humza who is only 14 years old and has been fighting boys who are a year older than himself."
