A man has been shot dead in a Bethnal Green park.
Police were called at 8.27pm on Tuesday (August 6) to reports of a man in his early 30s shot at Weavers Fields in Wilmot Street.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, including London's Air Ambulance, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The death has sparked police to launch a murder investigation.
It is the second such probe to begin in less than two days after a man, named by police as Abdul Jalloh, was fatally stabbed in New Union Close on Monday (August 5).
One man has been arrested in connection with the 23-year-old's death.
Vicky Tunstall, acting Det Ch Supt for Tower Hamlets and Hackney, said: “Tragically, another young man has lost his life to violence and our thoughts are with his friends and family at this difficult time."
“Tackling violent crime remains our absolute focus, but we need to work together with communities to achieve this," she added.
