A man killed in a stabbing on the Isle of Dogs has been named by police. 

Abdul Jalloh, 23, has been revealed as the victim of the stabbing in New Union Close yesterday (August 5). 

Officers from the Metropolitan Police were called to the road at 4.15pm, with London Ambulance Service paramedics and London's Air Ambulance also dispatched.

The 23-year-old was found with injuries and died a short while later, despite the best efforts of the emergency services. 

Police have revealed he lived in the area near to where the crime took place. 

Abdul's next of kin have been informed and are now being treated by specialist officers ahead of a post-mortem examination. 

The Met has made an arrest in connection with the fatal stabbing, with a man in custody on suspicion of assisting an offender. 

Pictures and video footage shared to social media on August 5 showed a significant emergency service presence in the area, with a crime scene in place. 

A spokesperson for the Met has advised this is likely to remain in place "for some time".

“Police received a number of calls from concerned members of the public when the victim was found yesterday afternoon, but we think there are a number of other people who saw what happened who have yet to speak to us.

“My colleagues in our homicide team are working to establish exactly what happened and it’s incredibly important that they hear from those people.

“Additional patrols will be conducted in the area while my officers will remain at the crime scene.
