A supermarket on the Isle of Dogs has apologised to customers after having to close again last weekend after a series of technical problems. 

Asda in East Ferry Road was closed again at around 12pm on May 12. 

Shoppers took to Facebook over the weekend to report the closure, with one writing: "Honestly it’s a joke". 

One customer posted a picture of traffic appearing to queue to leave the site. 

An Asda spokesperson said: "Whilst closing our stores early is always a last resort, we've had to close our Isle of Dogs store earlier than we'd like to on a couple of occasions over the past couple of weeks due to technical issues.

"We would like to apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused."

It is the latest closure in a string of incidents that have stretched across two weeks. 

Customers previously discovered the store closed over the weekend of April 27-28 as a result of reported "power cuts".

That same weekend, firefighters were called to the store after smoke was seen rising from the premises and a fire alarm was triggered. 

A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade confirmed there was no fire. 

Shoppers were in the store on May 3 when they reported on Facebook there had been yet another power cut. 

The store has not confirmed if the technical issues they refer to are power cuts.
