An arts trail for people with guide dogs has been set up around Canary Wharf to raise public awareness about living with sight loss.
The Paws on the Wharf trail features 25 sculptures with its mission for the importance of “an accessible society” to encourage education and awareness in schoolchildren.
The Guide Dogs charity has been running a design competition with schools to create one of the 16 sculptures. The winning school was Ben Jonson Primary School in Stepney which has its design brought to life on the trail by artist Jill Busby.
The sculptures have been set up along a ‘step free’ trail with alternative options to maps such as an app that enables blind and partially-sighted people to follow it independently.
But there are also tours on days for people who would prefer help navigating the trail.
The event ends with an art auction of the sculptures on May 17, with money raised going to the charity.
