Sir Ian McKellen's The Grapes is 'best celebrity side-hustle'

Sir Ian McKellen's pub, The Grapes, has been recognised as the celebrity venture with the best Google reviews by recent research.

The study, conducted by experts at Wealth of Geeks, looked at UK hospitality businesses owned or invested in by famous people.

It then rated the establishments based on the average total percentage of excellent reviews on Google Reviews.

The Grapes, a pub in Limehouse owned by legendary actor Sir Ian, came out on top.

The establishment placed high above its competitors, securing a whopping 72.17 per cent in excellent reviews.

The much-loved pub boasts a rich history and is one of London's oldest establishments.

Esteemed author Charles Dickens frequented The Grapes and honoured it by including the venue in his novel, Our Mutual Friend.

The research by Wealth of Geeks provides a closer look at the different side hustles taken up by celebrated personalities in Britain.

Other top side hustles included Charlotte Church's retreat, The Dreaming in Wales, and Hakim Ziyech's Taco Taco.

A spokesperson for Wealth of Geeks said: "Establishments owned by celebrities as a side hustle has emerged as a prominent trend in the hospitality industry, and it's interesting to see what the public thinks are the best-rated.

"The range of celebrities who have ventured into the hospitality sector varies from football legends to musicians and actors, which demonstrates how attractive it is as a business opportunity.

"However it’s also a risk, because poor reviews from customers could do more than just impact people’s opinion of the establishment, they could also damage the celebrity’s brand and persona.

"Therefore the celebrities who feature at the top of this list will be pleased their side hustles are proving popular with the public."
