A teacher who appeared on The Voice has been banned from the profession after he discussed his child sexual abuse fantasies with other paedophiles online.
Paul Rajasegaram, 35, a music teacher at Oaklands School in Bethnal Green, shared sick images of children as young as three being sexually abused in forums with other perverts.
Rajasegaram, who appeared on BBC talent show The Voice in 2014, also boasted “I teach kids”.
He was arrested on school grounds in January 2018 and in May 2021 he was jailed for 27 months after he pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children and two counts of distributing such images.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) conducted safeguarding checks on pupils at the school, including children that Rajasegaram had called "cute".
There was no evidence offending had taken place against any pupil.
On October 3 2023 a Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) panel met to discuss Rajasegaram’s future in the profession.
The panel were given a copy of the judge’s comments, in which it was stated that Rajasegaram had readily and enthusiastically engaged in conversations about the sexual abuse of pupils.
The comments added that some of the images involved very young children, children as young as three years old.
The panel concluded that Rajasegaram should be banned from teaching indefinitely.
