A flat fire which damaged a shop and caused a road closure is being investigated.
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a flat fire in Wilkes Street, Spitalfields, this morning (September 8), after the London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called at 3.25am.
Half of the first floor and part of the second floor above a shop in Tower Hamlets were damaged by the blaze.
Most of the building's ground floor was also damaged, but there were no reports of injuries.

The brigade said the fire was under control by 5.16am.
Hanbury Street was closed from Commercial Street until the junction after Wilkes Street while crews worked to make the area safe.
Crews from Whitechapel, Dowgate, Bethnal Green and Dockhead fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
