A woman walking alone at night was followed by a man into a building and sexually assaulted.
Police said that at 7.40pm on February 15 a woman was walking in the E14 postcode area, which covers Isle of Dogs, Canary Wharf and Poplar.
An unknown man followed the woman into a building where she was sexually assaulted.
The woman’s screams alerted residents who came to her aid. The man subsequently fled the scene of the incident.
Officers investigating the assault have now released footage of a man they wish to trace in connection with the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Angela Thompson of the Met’s Central East BCU said: “A thorough investigation into this incident is ongoing, however attempts to identify a man seen on CCTV footage around the time of the incident have not yet been successful.
“As such, I am releasing video footage today and I ask members of the public, in particular those who live or work in the E14 area, to watch carefully to see if they recognise the man shown.
“If you know who he is, please make contact and share his name with us.”
