Police have recovered a body from River Thames in Thamemead which they believe is missing Suma Begum.
Suma, 24, was reported missing from an address in Orchard Place, in Poplar on Sunday, April 30.
A member of the public called the police shortly after 10am on Wednesday, 10 May and seeing the body in the river.
While formal identification awaits, Suma’s family have been updated with this development, Scotland Yard said.
A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
He appeared at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, May 9, and with the aid of a Bengali interpreter, spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth before being remanded into custody.
He will next appear at the Old Bailey for his plea hearing and trial preparation hearing on July 25.
