Two men were found with gunshot injuries by police in East London on Sunday (May 7).

A member of public called Met police at 09:00pm to report a firing on Swaton Road in Bow following which the officers attended the scene.

The victims, a 21-year-old and 66-year-old man, were rushed to hospital where their condition was later assessed as not life-threatening.

The two were sat inside a vehicle when they were shot as per initial enquiries by police. The suspect had reportedly fled the scene in a silver Skoda Octavia travelling onto Campbell Road.

Officers investigating the case have now appealed for witnesses to come forward with information.

Detective Inspector Mat Freeman from Met’s Specialist Crime North unit said in a statement that the police is “doing everything they possibly can to identify those responsible.”

He shared: “Any firearm discharge on the streets of London is cause for huge concern to members of the public, and I can assure them that we share that concern.”

He urged for anyone who has dashcam footage from the area around the time to contact them. This, he said, would especially be helpful in tracing the suspect’s vehicle.

He added: “The slightest fragment of information could prove crucial so please, if you have information or material that can help, make contact immediately."
