It has now been over a year since the Covid-19 pandemic began. From supporting the most vulnerable to each person making great personal sacrifice to follow the rules and keep people safe, everyone in our borough has played a part.
Today, we are more hopeful than ever; more people are being vaccinated against Covid-19 every day and the staggered lifting of restrictions is bringing a big sense of relief as shops and some outdoor hospitality reopen and groups of six from two households are again able to meet outside.
We should be in no doubt, however, that the coming months will continue to challenge us, and Covid-19 will remain.
It is crucial we remain cautious and all continue to play our part in stopping the spread of the virus. Little actions like washing your hands, maintaining social distance and wearing a face covering make a massive difference.
By remaining vigilant and all playing our part, together we can keep Tower Hamlets safe.
